www.dilbert.com by Scott Adams Dilbert takes in a show and Catbert plays with a temp. In Dance Fight, Ted says, ‘I just found out the committee across the hall is doing the same thing we are. All we can do now is hum west side story and have a dance fight.’ Wally asks, ‘Can you teach me how to hum?’ In The Contractor, Ted says, ‘My dream is to one day become a regular employee.’ Catbert says, ‘My dream is to eat candy and poop emeralds The difference is that I’m half way successful.’

The question is, which half is he successful at?
hes eating candy
but if he eats emerald candy, and he doesnt digest it…
i wanna hum to
cool he can crap dimonds
He tries to eat the carrot lol
“my dream is to eat candy and poop emeralds. the difference is Im half way to my dream” HAHAHAHAHAHA
I wanna eat candy and poop emeralds toooo!!!!!!
Not diamonds EMERALDS!
what’s with the carrot guy?
omg.. thats weird.. im in band and we’ve been practicing West Side Story
btw they’re completely right about how everyone fights in that movie
my dream is to eat candy and poop emeralds
first of all OUCH!
plus it makes you wonder witch half
He’s a temp employee, and they’re holding the “carrot” of permanent (regular) employment in front of him so he’ll keep working for them for low pay and no benefits. Catbert’s response indicates the futility of the temp’s hope that what he’s doing will pay off in the end. I should know. I’m a temp right now.
The difference is that I’m halfway successful.
XD
I have the strip of the first video, I always wondered what a dance fight looked like
me too lol
The guys new york accent makes it hilaroius 4 some reason
I bet The Office is full of wishful thinking moments for you, then?
knowing catbert, it’s actually not entirely clear which half he’s done…
Probably, but I don’t watch TV. Btw, I have a better-paying permanent job somewhere else now.
@highnoon3777
i believe that Alice said to the temp “your first mistake was thinking he understands metaphors”
Yeah, it depends on industry I guess though. It is more expensive to keep contractors on long term. They are paid more when paid by the hour, and get overtime at time and a half when working over 40 hours. Plus go on 1099 and you can do a lot of great tax deductions you couldn’t do before. Salary perm spots give you security though. Is a toss up, you can make more money as a contractor, but when contract is up, your responsible for getting another lined up.
@trepidity, good catch. If the title is “The Contractor,” the guy is obviously a contractor and not a temp. The similarities between his situation and mine at the time must have led to my incorrect assumption.
no you got it right. it was just the money part. Like I said depends on the industry can be either way. Sometimes places hire contract to perm, those guys are about the same as this guy. And of course contractors aren’t actually employees of the company they are working at, so sometimes they get treated as “not part of the group”
Wouldn’t it be great if all of life’s problems could be solved with dance fights?
Or giant robot battles. I’m flexible.
