Embattled Zorn Given Reprieve Until End Of NFL Season

Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn is off of the hot seat-at least temporarily. Kobe, Iverson Miss NBA All Star Game

The NBA All Star game was played without a couple of high profile participants this year as the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant and Philadelphia 76ers’ Allen Iverson would not play due to injury. Kobe and ‘AI’ were the latest in a string of injuries to All Star players that also claimed Portland’s Brandon Roy and New Orleans’ Chris Paul. Colts’ Owner Irsay Says Team Will Break Bank To Retain Peyton Manning

In what has to be one of the least difficult front office personnel decisions in sports history, Indianapolis Colts’ owner Jim Irsay has confirmed that the team will sign quarterback Peyton Manning to a contract extension that could make him the highest paid player in NFL history. Manning’s current deal will expire after the end of the 2010 season, with the final two years having been voided due to his meeting a number of performance based criteria. Pavlik To Defend Middleweight Crown Against Williams

Kelly Pavlik will defend his unified middleweight championship against Paul Williams on October 3rd in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The fight will be held at a familiar venue for boxing fans, Boardwalk Hall and will be broadcast live on HBO. Despite some fits and starts in the negotiations between the two sides, they finally came to terms on Tuesday night. Detroit Names Matthew Stafford As Starting QB

Matthew Stafford has yet to play a regular season NFL game and hes already the Detroit Lions starting quarterback. Japan’s Pro Wrestling Icon: Mitsuharu Misawa

Mitsuharu Misawa died in Hiroshima, Japan earlier this year less than a week before his 47th birthday. Akitoshi Saito hit a back suplex on Misawa, which appeared to knock him unconscious. Medical staff attempted to revive him in the ring, but when CPR failed he was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
